Translations for Progress Newsletter, Nov. 22, 2007

The TfP team has just completed another phase in the site development. In addition to a number of smaller changes throughout the site that will hopefully make the work with the site more effective and enjoyable, you will find the following three major additions:

  1. Chinese has been added as the sixth official language of the site. (Those of you wishing to switch to Chinese as your default site site, can do it on their Profile Update page.)
  2. It is now possible for the organizations to send e-mail with their initial enquiries simultaneously to all the translators or editors for a particular language combination. This may make the search for a suitable translator faster and more effective.
Similarly, translators may offer their services by sending just one e-mail message simultaneously to all organizations that have translation tasks with a particular language combination.
The members can find these new tools as new selections on the Database Search page only after they log in the site. Please, use these simultaneous messaging tools wisely.
  3. All members can now add a personal touch to their profiles by uploading their personal photos or organization's logos or trademarks. Or you can simply choose to upload any other graphical image (avatar) representing yourself or your organization.

All members are also reminded that everybody can add (upload) news to the TfP site - see the respective link in the main menu. Anything that would be of interest to the translator and language enthusiast community, or to the volunteer movement is welcome, and you are cordially invited to make such submissions. We can all together make this site an interesting place to visit and hopefully to gain some experience and/or information.
